ADVANCEMY - Privacy Policy

LAST REVISED JULY 2024

SECTION 1: What information do we collect and what do we do with it?

When you create an account as a student or educator (henceforth referred to as “Users”) on our site, Advancemy Education Inc. will collect certain pieces of personal information from you during our account creation process, such as your name and email address. Additionally, enrolment in any of our courses may request this same information or additional information solely for reference and administrative purposes.

By providing us with your email address, you consent to our administrative team at ADVANCEMY to contact you in administrative-related capacities, such as providing you with account confirmations, password resets, etc.

“Users” may also consent to provide their email address to our mailing list for the purposes of receiving newsletters, site update notices, and other forms of email marketing. These emails may contain information on upcoming educational content and promotional offers or ask you to fill out surveys for feedback collection.

SECTION 2: How is consent obtained?

All “Users” who create an account with us are only allowed to do so after reviewing the applicable Terms and Conditions of Use (the “TC’s”) for their role, either as a student or educator. By providing us with any required personal information and thereby being able to use our website, you agree that you have carefully read through the relevant “TC’s” and imply that you consent to Advancemy Education Inc.’s collection of your information specifically for account creation, purchasing of and participation in courses or services, and participating in our community space.

Should Advancemy Education Inc. ask for your personal information anywhere on ADVANCEMY for any other purposes, such as for our mailing list, the purposes will be explicitly stated and you have the right to either consent or refuse to provide said information.

SECTION 3: How can consent be withdrawn after being provided?

At any point after you have provided us with your consent to your personal information and its use for administrative or marketing purposes, you have the right to withdraw at your own discretion. Withdrawing will make us unable to contact you in the future for continued communications or collection of information, and bars us from using or storing any of your information further.

To formally request a withdrawal of consent, please contact our team directly through the Contact Us page on ADVANCEMY.

SECTION 4: Disclosure

In certain cases where mandated by relevant and applicable laws, Advancemy Education Inc. may disclose your personal information or if you violate any of our “TC’s”, linked below:

SECTION 5: ADVANCEMY’s Use of Thinkific Hosting and Software

ADVANCEMY’s website and all of its content and courses are hosted via Thinkific Labs Inc. (“Thinkific”). They provide us with the online course creation technology that enables Advancemy Education Inc. to provide global educators with a platform for their educational content and for students to reach them.

Your data is stored through Thinkific’s data storage, databases and the general Thinkific application. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall.

SECTION 6: Payment Processing on ADVANCEMY CE

If you make a purchase on our site, we use a third party payment processor such as Stripe or Paypal. Payments are encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction.

All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our site and related courses and its service providers.

For more insight, you may also want to read Thinkific’s own “Terms of Service” here at https://www.thinkific.com/resources/privacy-policy/ or their “Privacy Statement” here at https://www.thinkific.com/resources/terms-of-service/ .

SECTION 7: Any Third Party Services

In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use, and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to Advancemy Education Inc. for the purposes of maintaining ADVANCEMY.

However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase-related transactions.

For these providers, we recommend that you read their respective privacy policies so you can understand the manner in which your personal information will be handled by these providers.

Certain providers may be in or have facilities that are in a different jurisdiction or region than either you or us. If you elect to proceed with a transaction that involves the services of a third-party service provider, then your information may become subject to the laws of the jurisdiction(s) in which that service provider or its facilities are located.

As an example, if you are in Canada and your transaction is processed by a payment gateway located in the United States, then your personal information used in completing that transaction may be subject to disclosure under United States legislation, including the Patriot Act.

Once you leave our course website or are redirected to a third-party website or application, you are no longer governed by this Privacy Policy or any of ADVANCEMY’s “TC’s”.

In such cases, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites and encourage you to read the privacy statements of said sites.

SECTION 9: Data and Information Security

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption.

Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.
